Electrathon of Florida race day: 9 a.m. at Florida State College at Jacksonville, at the school’s Automotive Technology Department at 401 W. State St. The first race is at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.. All Electrathon classes welcome – race car registration fee is $40 – tech inspections start at 8 a.m. High school and college students from all over the state return to Florida State College at Jacksonville’s downtown campus to battle in student-built cars against each other on a twisting course. The FSCJ Automotive Technology Car Show is part of the event, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5, at FSCJ Downtown, 401 W. State St. Free for spectators, and $20 per show vehicle. St. Marys Waterfront Auto Show: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the St. Marys Waterfront Park on West St. Marys Street. Spectators are free, and show vehicles are $40 per – presented by Culture Driven and 912 Auto Spa.

Fifth annual Car-B-Que Classic Car Show: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the One Church Jacksonville Beach at 324 5th Street N.

The Brumos Collection Saturday Social: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the museum at 5159 San Pablo Road. The annual low-buck motorsports festival has come and gone, and the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge Presented by Tire Rack at Gainesville Raceway saw a wild almost-Bug show how fast can you go for less than $2000?

The fastest low-buck machine was Derek Penner’s tube-frame, Mazda Miata wearing a Volkswagen Beetle hat. He won the “Biggest Trophy,” and a $1000 Tire Rack gift card.

In second place was Material Girls Racing and their Ford Ranger-bodied Ford Taurus, followed by Identity Crisis and their Triumph Spitfire/Pontiac Solstice mashup.
