Auto designer Henrik Fisker, who designed the Fisker Ocean EV SUV, has revealed a tease of his new Project Ronin electric sports car.
“The aim is to achieve the world’s longest range for a production EV, combined with extremely high levels of performance,” Fisker said in a news release. “Project Ronin will be a showcase for our internal engineering, powertrain, and software capabilities.”
The code name was inspired by the film of the same title, development of the Ronin beginning last year. The goal, he said – create a “futuristic Grand Touring sports car suitable for long road trips while carrying four adults and their luggage.”
Not many details have arisen yet, other than unique doors for better ingress and egress and what Fisker called “a luxurious, sustainable vegan interior.” Look for more info in August 2023, with production starting in the second half of 2024. The Danish-American automotive designer was the designer of the BMW Z8, Aston martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, Fisker Karma hybrid and the Galpin-Fisker Mustang Rocket, seen here.
And we told you that Jacksonville’s EV Rider had a Mach-E in store.
Well, vlogger Bill Bortzfield learned this EV Mustang Mach-E GT-Performance can do a 3.5 second 0-60 mph run while still getting the equivalent of 82 miles per gallon.

News that the Corvette, America’s own mid-engined exotic, is going electric had the interweb buzzing in the past few days with yays and nays. But GM’s own Mark Reuss posted a subtle “BOOM here comes an electrified baby….” on Facebook as Chevrolet said that in addition to 2023’s new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, a hybrid Corvette will be available as early as next year, and a fully electric version to follow. The video that Chevrolet posted shows the volt-Vette playing hard in the snow, and there’s one more thing – all four wheels are working, meaning all-wheel-drive to handle the instant torque of an electric powerplant.
Jacksonville’s own EV Rider, a new video blog on all things EV by Bill Bortzfield, has his own comments on the electric Corvette, along with a look at the recent JEA Drive Electric EV Car Show that included a Rivian R1T, Mustang Mach-E GT-P, Teslas and more. He’s also got a Ford Mach-E drive review coming up soon.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Paul Teutul, Jr., formerly the chief designer and fabricator for the television series “American Choppers” and is now owner of Paul Jr. Designs.
On Friday, the Grand Marshal Tour Presented by Hagerty allows owners to ride their vintage bike through the back roads of historic Florida. The Grand Marshals Dinner is at 6 p.m. Friday at the World Golf Hall of Fame, at $80 per person. Jacksonville Car Culture’s Chris Brewer will interview Paul Teutul at the event. RB7 F1 car from the canyons of New York City to the Miami race track with an 11-minute video.
Sure it’s a bit silly, including the gator and parking ticket. But what happens after the gator is left behind is funny, and cool, with help from Red Bull athlete and professional wakeboarder/barefoot water-skier Parks Bonifay.
And the help Perez gets to navigate Miami traffic is priceless.
We even get some hot laps on the then-unfinished track.

The annual show is sponsored by Jacksonville Car Culture and presented by Key Buick/GMC Hyundai, Genesis, and North Florida Lincoln. The Snyder Community Center is a HUD subsidized property for low-income seniors of all faiths that receives no funding from HUD. Located a block from the show site between HUD-assisted San Jose Apartments I and II on Galicia Road, it was named in honor of the late Bishop Snyder, who served the Catholic Diocese of St. Augustine from 1979 to 2000.
A passing thunderstorm caused the race to be red-flagged just after 1 p.m., but it resumed.
The Grand Prix last weekend raised more than $8,500 for Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, on top of the Mario Andretti-autographed item sold at the RM Sotheby’s auction at The Amelia concours a month ago, its winning $138,000 bid also donated to the non-profit agency. And during Spina Bifida of Jacksonville helps children and young adults dealing with the birth defect, which occurs when the spine fails to close properly during the first month of pregnancy. The agency also supports the medical, mental, social and educational needs of the clients and their families, including attendance at Florida’s disability conference and free sporting events, movies and family dinners. One team had some serious racers on board – NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham, road racer/author/Penske team timer and scorer Judy Stropus, and Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance founder Bill Warner, seen here during the rain red flag.
The race was held at the 103rd Street Sports Complex at 10271 103rd St.

Here’s a rendering of what the car will look like in that iconic livery:
The Brumos Collection
And race car driver David Donohue, who raced for Brumos Racing in its IMSA days, will be driving a Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport up the famous 12.42-mile, 156-turns course to the finish line at 14,115 feet above sea level. Prepared in the iconic Brumos red, white, and blue livery, this event is the first competition for Brumos since 2013, when it retired from 50 years of competing in a variety of series and classes.
“Racing for Brumos has been a highlight of my career that I look back on with pride,” Donohue said. “I feel humbled to play a role in bringing back the number 59 to such a special race and its milestone running.”
Pikes Peak is Donohue’s 120th race driving for Brumos. He was part of the team that brought Brumos its fourth overall win at the 24 hours of Daytona in 2009, more than 30 years after three Brumos victories in 1973, 1975 and 1978. For Donohue, son of famed race-car driver and 1972 Indy 500 champion Mark Donohue, the win came on the 40th anniversary of his father’s 1969 overall triumph in the same race. The 2009 win was the culmination of then-Brumos CEO Bob Snodgrass’s stewardship of the Daytona Prototype program, which began in the early 2000s, and built upon Brumos nearly 50 years of competing in a variety of series and classes.
After Brumos retired from racing in 2013, the Jacksonville-based dealership was sold in 2016. But its racing heritage, as well as a collection of open-wheel Indianapolis race cars and other classics, now live at the 35,000 sq. ft. Brumos Collection.
“When we opened our collection in 2020, I was asked if we would ever race again,” Brumos Collection founder Dano Davis said. “Only two years later – and on the tail-end of a global pandemic – we’re taking on a storied, historic race with David as our driver. From the collection to the track, the iconic 59 will now once again fly.”
The museum facility opened in 2020 to the public at 5959 San Pablo Road S., more information at thebrumoscollection.com.
The plan is to have BBI Autosport prepare the car for Brumos in May, with support from Porsche of the Main Line in Philadelphia and Porsche Colorado Springs.
“Being back in Brumos colors is just unbelievably exciting for me, beyond words,” Donohue said.
And ultimately, the new Brumos GT2 RS Clubsport will join the many cars celebrating milestones at the Brumos Collection in Jacksonville.

And finally…
Who are you gonna call?
Ghostbusters, or maybe Starsky and Hutch?
Courtesy The Petersen Automotive Museum
The Petersen Automotive Museum’s brand-new collection of some of the most famous vehicles ever to appear in film and television is now open, just down the street from Hollywood’s most iconic production studios. A continuation of the popular “Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy” exhibit, the new display branches out beyond the specific genre to incorporate a broader range of vehicles, movies and television series. Included are vehicles from the blockbuster “Black Panther,” the trilogies “Men in Black” and “Back to the Future,” and the “Ghostbusters” and “Batman” series of movies.
Courtesy The Petersen Automotive Museum
Stars of the new exhibit include the wildly popular 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor dubbed “Ecto-1,” originally made famous as the rapid response vehicle for the cast of “Ghostbusters.” The converted ambulance made multiple appearances in the sequels to the original 1984 hit, including the more recent reboot “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” While “Ecto-1” received updates to its appearance over the years, it will display in its original 1984 condition.
Courtesy The Petersen Automotive Museum
Another Hollywood vehicle making its return is the 1981 DeLorean “Time Machine” from the “Back to the Future” trilogy of movies. The producers originally chose the DMC-12 as the foundation for the famous time-traveling DeLorean due to its stainless-steel construction and gullwing doors. Multiple versions of the DeLorean “Time Machine” were made throughout the years for the two sequels, but this is the only example appearing in all three films.
“Some vehicles used in television and movies have become just as popular as the stars themselves,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “We are excited to display what are genuinely some of the most iconic vehicles from Hollywood’s long and storied history of film and television series production. The unique collection is sure to appeal to fans of movies and television along with any automotive enthusiasts.”

Other notable unique additions to the new exhibit include the Batmobile from “Batman” and “Batman Returns,” the intricate Moto-Terminator motorcycle that appeared in “Terminator Salvation” and the classic 1976 Ford Gran Torino from the “Starsky and Hutch” television series.

Event news
The Amelia roared onto the island last weekend for its 27th annual concours d’elegance appearance with racer and racing legend Chip Ganassi as the honoree. Held in and around the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island and the adjacent Golf Club of Amelia Island, one of the nation’s biggest classic car events included the concours’ official RM Sotheby’s auction, annual Spina Bifida of Jacksonville Silent Auction and Saturday’s new Cars & Community Presented by Griot’s Garage.
That included the annual Cars & Caffeine display of 300-plus classics, exotics and hot rods from local owners and car clubs. Some were tiny, like Lane Motor Museum head Jeff Lane puttering onto the show field in a replica of the 1936 Le Carabe, or ground beetle.
