Everything new is old again, and we mean RML Group’s just-released images, video and update on its RML Short Wheelbase, a high-end restomod that recreates a donor Ferrari 550 Maranello into a stunning 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Short Wheelbase.
The coupe is powered by a naturally aspirated, 5474cc, 65-degree Ferrari V-12 making 479 hp at 7,000 rpm, and 419 lb ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. RML says the car can get to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, the V-12 delivering drive to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox and transaxle with a limited-slip differential.
The car was aanounced just over three years ago, CEO Michael Mallock saying he project “also turned into a labour of love for everyone involved.”
“The Short Wheelbase was always conceived as an emotional model, without compromise,” he said kin a news release. “So while we have made sure that the end product conforms to the very highest industry standards in terms of quality, durability and safety, it also captures the character – the look, sound and tactility – of an epic GT car from the golden age of motoring. It is, in our eyes, the ultimate grand routier.
Around 70 percent of sales will be for export, with a majority of those expected to be in North America. The RML Short Wheelbase is available to order now, with prices starting at $1.79 million.
Watch RML’s intro vide, with a brief snippet of V-12 sound, right here.
